1. 19/12 Book Street

Address: 19/12 Book street, Tran Hung Dao, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi

19/12 Book Street is a small street connecting Ly Thuong Kiet and Hai Ba Trung streets. Few people know that this street was formerly a place to park cars for the famous "Hell market" before, then it was re-built to be a book street and officially put into operation in May 2017. Since then, this is a familiar stop for Ha Thanh people and tourists everywhere to visit.

At the beginning of this 200 meter-long street, you will see a stone column embossed with the words "Hanoi book street" and the cultural symbol of Hanoi - Temple of Literature.

Book Street was built not only to create a place to sell books but also to provide a cultural space where events such as the introduction of new works, exchanges and discussions with authors are held for readers of the capital.

At this place, you can find many booths with books from famous publishers such as Kim Dong, Phuong Nam, Nha Nam, Tien Phong, etc. However, the exhibition booth is quite small, mainly selling new and outstanding books of bookstores, but not really rich in genres.

The scene of the book street is like an old town with ancient and quiet dark green stalls, along with mossy trees on both sides of the road and the dark color of paving bricks. The campus is really suitable for reading a good book, walking and chatting.

2. Dinh Le Book Street

Address: Dinh Le Street, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi

If you consider the 19/12 Book street is a growing child, therefore  Dinh Le is an adult who has grown up with the development of Hanoi. Local people around Hoan Kiem Lake used to say a sentence like this "Going to Hoan Kiem Lake, remember to visit Trang Tien Plaza, eat Trang Tien ice cream and stop at Dinh Le Book street".

In the past, Hanoi's two largest state-owned bookstores, Quoc Van Bookstore and Foreign Language Bookstore are located here, making this place famous as the busiest place to sell books.

But the name Dinh Le was born thanks to the small shop of Mrs. Pham Thi Mao. Today, this small shop has become a long-standing Mao bookstore that no one does not know in Hanoi. Although nowadays there are many large and small bookstores springing up, Mao" is still a familiar name for students. The space here has faded and bold traces of time. Stepping inside you will see a lot of giant bookshelves and the familiar spiral staircase. If you are a book lover, do not miss this place.

In addition to Mao, Dinh Le book street also owns many different shops with many genres of books: learning, foreign literature, horror, detective, life, ... it's very diverse from all over the world and time... These large, tall and filled bookshelves can always serve the needs of young students, seniors and middle-aged parents.

Although it has been for a long time, with an extremely favorable location near Hoan Kiem Lake and the reputation it has built, this book street is still extremely crowded, especially on weekends.
